Where voice dubbers are the unsung heros/heroines of the entertainment industry in most places, in Japan they are decorated celebrities! Dating back from 2007 (do take a walk down memory lane back to 2007 懐かしです!), the Annual Seiyuu awards have been making its rounds to recognise great seiyuus for their hardwork. ご苦労さまでした, 声優さま-たち! 1st Seiyuu annual awards (2007) 2nd Seiyuu annual awards (2008) 3rd Seiyuu annual awards (2009) 4th Seiyuu annual awards (2010) Speaking of seiyuus, I have got to mention a character, Itachi-san, who is the coolest character (anime or real-life) that I have ever seen/known!!! (I've googled, there is one and only Itachi I talking about, no other shows uses this name) And 石川英郎さん who made this character own-ed! At this point of time, if you do not know Itachi-san, or even heard of it, hmmm you should really do 切腹. Reading the rest of the article can wait. Just click on the seppuku wiki link for a complete list of instructions :) 岸本sensei の ナルトNARUTO is one of the popular (japanese) MANGAs in the WORLD. The genre is a bit different from the Anime of recent days, which seeks quick laughs, smart-alecks, moe content, and the obnoxious fanservice. NARUTO (the series) seldom amuses (so much), maybe Kishimoto-san wants to differentiate it from the rest. What is in for us are the fights, I could tell Kishimoto-san and the whole animation production crew did quite a lot of research into fighting techniques, with Neji's Juuken and Lee's Drunken Fist originating from popular chinese martial arts. The animation work is smooth, impact is forceful - just how many times did they re-watched and re-watched Jackie Chan's movies for that? (LOL) The popularity proves it. Yes. And why is the show called NARUTO? Because the show is basically deriving entertainment from kicking Naruto and his clones' asses![citation needed] Kishimoto's Itachi is too complex for anyone to understand; comprehend fully, even maybe to Kishi himself as well. Haha. There are just too many loopholes. Just when I thought I got everything ironed out, immediately another fact pops up to challenge it. A few examples: So Itachi can kill everyone, his father, mother, girlfriend(that is what Uchiha Madara added, but we don have any other evidence that Itachi has one) but can't bear to kill his brother? What logic is that? This, my common sense of human behaviour quickly countered : 'Oh he must have regretted so much after killing his parents that he can't bear to finish his brother.' (Augument) So Itachi's reason of wiping out his whole clan is for the bigger picture - the whole village's safety itself? To put it bluntly, why would one care? At first thought, mathematically, it may be the most logical; selfless decision, but who can actually justify that with the killing of OWN family/clan! If he is really that rightous, why is he helping Akatsuki to collect the bijuus for Pain's ultimate WMD jutsu? And how many more people have he killed since he joined Akatsuki? (Counter-Augument) He might have joined Akatsuki just to prevent that from happening? And to be a deterent force (as stated in the story) to protect Sasuke from the shadows? (Counter-counter-augument) Given Akatsuki's strength, he must have thought of the possibility of him failing. Then what? He would have just helped them for free! And always taking Sasuke on a ride to the deepest depths of despair/desperation, isn't he worried of driving him crazy? Kishimoto's later revelation of Itachi even pleading with the Sandaime(from Madara's account) to protect Sasuke just doesn't go along with that! He should have kept Sasuke away from the ninja world wherever possible, if he wanted to truly protect him. Itachi, who I would like to assume, like Sesshoumaru, who don't give a damn about his brother. In fact, his own theory of letting Sasuke live is only for the sake of getting his eyes, fits in better! Muhahaha!!! Damn why must humans be so contradicting? One part of me wished he is the good guy, another part thinks the bad guy is cooler! There are zillions of Itachi character analysis out there. I am dizzy just browsing through them. Here is a very good one. From zapenstap. (It's a super long article!) Saying Itachi is a social outcast and he hates interactions, possessing a superiority complex, is a bit too far (haha). While not entirely impossible, his ability to defeat almost anybody in the series without a sweat sure complements that theory nicely. But surely Itachi is too cool for that! I have known PLAYASIA for quite sometime now, but I've not (had much chance) bought anything from it yet. So far most of my online purchases are from CDJAPAN. In general, I am still a bit edgy about purchasing online with credit card. WHy don't they include a password or something. Just the card number is enough for them to authorise the transaction? With internet banking having 2-factor authentication, strange the credit card companies didn't catch up.
Ok, that aside, the other day, looking for only my railgun cd brought me here. Playasia sells quite a lot of things... they even have dorobo neko! ( けど, it is only pre-order-status and the date is even longer than Strapya's March ) Hmmm FREE DELIVERY WITHIN SINGAPORE? No harm trying, I thought. It appears to be cheaper than CDJAPAN. IT was a correct and wrong decision. only my railgun is out of stock(but it says its Back ordered. Ships once restock), ok it shouldn't take long to restock won't it? もう 一週間 だ, あの status わまだ 変わらない。そう... その世界わなにも 変わらない 。なにも。 Hehe, 御免,御免。今 現実にわ戻る。 Well, I surfed around the site while waiting, and I found 5 Centimeters Per Second with english subs! Actually I found one online sometime ago, it was on AMAZON. But it costs a US$100 over(latest US$166!!) and the packaging ehhh.... So at US19.90 it is a steal! At that price, one might suspect it is bootleg or have really sucky (english) subtitles... Yes those are my worries at first. But it turns out, it is one of my best spent US$19.90 in a while! The staff replied me on email that it is not bootleg, and for the english subtitles, I've seen a few minutes of it, they seeem ok... What! Haha, now it is US$18.90! I couldn't have saved US1 had I waited another week! Haha! Yes the disc may be Hong Kong version, but it still looks very pretty, with all the goodies... Yorokobu da, minna! Given the economic crisis and the shrinking anime industry, this really is the ray of hope shining through the dark clouds! Kibou no hikari da! 希望の光だ! Though I've figured Anime (on the whole), is just another artistic medium for expression, たまたまにわ, I am still part of the crowd-shouting lot that sees it as a genre, phenomenon, sensation, although it doesn't specifically belonged to a company. It is just distinctively Japan! Why do some of the best ideas go to Anime(or manga where it is mostly adapted from) I wondered? Is it a lack of budget? Or Anime/manga has now grown so big, it is the choice for story-telling now? I would have liked to believed in the latter. (I should give it more thought and come up with an article, should I? Mumumuhaha) Another thing about how Anime has influenced me for the worst, is that I have been turned into a ....all-things-cute-lover! Serious! Boys don't associate with cute. むかし,そ思うだ。Now, it is buy-with-the-excuse-of-getting-it-as-a-present. I've become a closet-kawaii-lover, ha! I guess it's true after all, that how influential the environment is to a person. Not just your hobbies, activities, but your friends, family, experiences - 好いこと, わるいことも. All helped shape what I am today. I spent my Lunar New Year holiday on a website - Strapya. I was looking for a present(no it's not for you) a very, very belated present. If there is ever an inefficient award, I could run for it. I got to this website because of dorobo neko, and hell it's popular! It is only available from march! Damn, got to change the present. But I still gonna buy it anyway...muhahaha... 喜ぶ だ! I handpicked out some of the more interesting stuff from the website(I spent about 3 days browsing through it!)... | ||||||||||||||||||||

After a year of waiting, FINALLY Summer Wars comes to our shores! And a year ago when it started screening in Japan, I held on a little hope that it will come to Singapore. I am basing it on that the previous movie 細田 守( Hosoda Mamoru ) made - "The girl who leapt through time" made it here, so there is the possibility that CATHY might screen this too. As I've always said - あきらめるな! 希望を 信じて! 何時か 願いをきっと 叶える!
And I hope "5 Centimeters per Second" will be shown here. But given the other 2 shows from 新海 誠 (Shinkai Makoto) (Voices of a Distant Star and Voices of a Distant Star) are not screened here(but at least the DVDs are available), I guess the odds aren't very high. But imagine the beautifully-animated backgrounds of the movies in big screens... it must be a visual feast! Here is nothing... |

そして, もひとつ映画を発見しました! It is another japanese movie, 3D though. 3D is supposed to be one step up from regular animation, but anyone would be hard-pressed to give any 3D examples that is better animated than regular 2D Anime-styled movies. The fluidity of the 2D, very strangely, is eerily lost. (Actually I shouldn't be giving all these comments as I don't know anything about animation, other than watching them :) |

As Michael have taught me, it isn't impossible to sing japanese song even if one doesn't know japanese! 不可能でわない! Memorising songs can be fun, fulfilling, enriching (you go in-depth into the song and you learn new words!), frustrating, tedious... all in one package. It is also a test of your determination, whether u can last, memorising the whole song that is. Faster songs are harder, but more satisfying :)... I still remember 'Northern Cross' took me 4 months to finish!!! Mumumuhahaha... but normal songs still usually took a month for me. It is hardworkです! | ||||||||||||||||

'only my railgun' is done by fripSide, the title itself shows that it is made for the anime - a true ANISON! 南條愛乃 (Nanjo Yoshino) the vocalist from fripSide is also a seiyuu! She has crazy high-pitch-vocals. (Is there even a low note in the song? ha) | ||||||||||||||||
